What or who inspired you to become a fashion blogger? What led you to it?
I’ve tried to answer this to the best of my ability in my blog FAQ.

Do you blog full-time, for fun, as a hobby? Share your evolution!
It used to be a hobby while I was at Uni and finishing Grad school.  Ever since then, I guess I’ve been blogging full time as my disability permits. (I have scoliosis and chronic pain resulting from it.)

What is your favorite asset? Your legs, arms, waist? How do you play that up?
I try not to see parts of my body as assets! It’s my body, the one I live in and the only one I’ll ever have. Assets are things which are external t,o me, things I buy, investment pieces. My body is a part of myself, and I don’t see it as a composite of separate parts.

If you asked me what my favorite feature is, though, I’d say it’s my legs or my smile 🙂

What are the challenges, if any, you face regarding being plus size?
Most of the challenges I have faced in being fat have stemmed from discrimination in healthcare and the world of dating. I still avoid going to doctors unless it’s absolutely necessary, and hospitals put me right in panic attack mode. I’m glad to have escaped the murky waters of dating apps 3 years ago and am very happily engaged to my fiance now, but back when I was in the dating pool so to speak, I faced many a rejection and heartbreak because of my size.

What’s your favorite thing about being plus size?
Being squishy and giving fantastic hugs.

What’s your favorite thing about being a blogger?
My favorite thing about blogging is how it opened up my world – all the wonderful people I’ve met and the friends I’ve made through blogging. I’m incredibly shy and introverted to a fault, so I’m glad that my blog has helped me to come out of my shell just a bit more and meet some amazing people like Marie, Ushshi, and Isha, just to name a few!

Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?
I’ve answered this in my FAQ as well.

Describe your personal style.
My personal style has changed over the years. I’ve gone from a very twee, storybookish look to a style that’s more minimal and bohemian. I love standout pieces, things that are a little bit eccentric. Vintage fashion has been and will always be a big part of my style.

Which bloggers inspire you? Plus or straight size! Any bloggers currently on your radar?
Apart from the bloggers I mentioned, you can find a list of bloggers and Instagrammers whose work I love if you scroll down here.

What do you think about where plus size fashion is today versus a few years back?
I feel that in the West, plus size fashion has come a long way in the past couple of years. At the same time, I think there’s way farther to go, especially in terms of sizing, availability of sizes above a US 24, fashion forward styles, and plus size clothing for men. My fiance wears a 4XL and I mostly do his shopping for him, and there’s still an absolute dearth of clothing for men’s plus sizes.

Here in India, the women’s plus size fashion industry has only just started to grow. There’s a lot of work to be done here before Indian plus size fashion can be at par with what’s available in the West.

What do you think or hear from readers, is one of the biggest myths about plus size fashion?
I think it’s still the idea that you can’t wear a certain style or article of clothing because of your size. Which is bullshit. There’s also this line of thinking that plus size fashion has to involve dressing up to the nines, and that casual, comfy, minimal looks are only meant for skinny people. Which is absolutely a lie as well!

Anything else you want The Curvy Fashionista’s readers to know?
I think we’ve already covered a good amount of ground here!

Lastly, what does Curvy.Confident.Chic mean to you?
It’s a powerful phrase, although I think ‘curvy’ only describes a certain type of fat body, and many fat people (including me) might not want to describe themselves as such. I’m happy calling myself fat!
