How long have you been blogging?  6 years

What or who inspired you to become a fashion blogger? What led you to it?

I don’t really consider myself a fashion blogger. But I have to put clothes on every day, so I figured I might as well be cute. And since I am an oversharer, I share with you guys! I decided to blog because everyone else was. I didn’t want to be exclude from the trend. I get FOMO easily.

Do you blog full-time, for fun, as a hobby? Share your evolution!

I’ve been blogging/writing full-time for the past year. I moved to NY over 3 years ago to pursue a career in writing. My blog was originally just my online writing resume, but she got popular. When I first moved to NY, I landed a job as an editor at Hello Beautiful. My writings there caught the eyes of EBONY, Essence and a few more major publications.

Fast forward to today, I am a freelance writer and copywriter here in NY. I just happen to have a blog too. (winks)

What is your favorite asset? Your legs, arms, waist? How do you play that up?

I would say my snarky personality, but if I have to pick something physical I would say my hips.  I love the way my curves fit into clothes. I feel like they come alive once I step into them.

What are the challenges, if any, you face regarding being plus size?

I think I have the same challenges that all plus size women have. While our options for stylish clothes has expanded, it’s still only available for us online. The process of figuring out sizing and fit via the mail system is frustrating and unfair to us as women.

What’s your favorite thing about being plus size?

I love my curves. I love how my curves tell a story through my clothes. I love how sexy I feel with certain clothes on. I’ve always wondered if skinny girls feel the same way? LOL

What’s your favorite thing about being a blogger?

Social media really changed the game for how bloggers are seen. If you allow your personality to really shine, you can connect with your readers in such an organic way. I love that.

Who/what are your favorite designers/brands?

I adore Eloquii and Simply Be. Both other a wide range of stylish clothes plus your much-needed staple items for your closet.

Describe your personal style.

You know, I am not sure if I can put it into words. Or box my style into one category. I love dresses, and skirts, and distressed jeans–I’ll wear almost anything as long as it fits and compliments my body.

Which bloggers inspire you? Plus or straight size! Any bloggers currently on your radar?

Duh, The Curvy Fashionista is clearly a fave and for obvious reasons. I also love Danielle Gray from The Style And Beauty Doctor. Her imagery is unmatched and I love her dedication to create shareable original content. I think Jessica from HeyGorJess is one to watch. Her style is definitely one I’ve been stalking.

What do you think about where plus size fashion is today versus a few years back?

We’ve come a really long way. Not even a decade ago, all we had were retailers like Macy’s and Lord And Taylor who were not focusing on the younger plus woman. Now designers and retailers have put the trendy customer in the forefront.

What do you think or hear from readers, is one of the biggest myths about plus size fashion?

That we can’t wear certain things. Style is personal and has nothing to do with rules or trends. I love that plus size woman are starting to dismantle those myths.

Are you working on anything or have anything to share? Anything else you want The Curvy Fashionista’s readers to know?

I’m finishing up my first book (squeals) which is about my journey of losing my mother. Think memoir self-help mash up. You can actually pre-order it here.

Lastly, what does Curvy.Confident.Chic mean to you?

It’s living your life your way. It’s accepting your true authentic self no matter what the world says you should be.

  1. “The process of figuring out sizing and fit via the mail system is frustrating and unfair to us as women.”

YES!!! I have a pretty small budget for clothing, so I usually can only buy one thing at a time…and it is REALLY annoying to buy an item online, GIVE THEM MY MONEY, wait for it to be shipped, try it on, discover it’s not right, send it back…then WAIT for the refund, which can take up to a MONTH from some online retailers! And until I get that refund I’m dead in the water as far as buying anything else.

It is extremely frustrating, and I really envy people who can “just run into the mall and grab a dress for the party this afternoon.” Sigh.

It’s getting better…but MAN is it getting better slowly.
