Her Curvy Story: A Journey to Self-Love with Sarah Taylor

Meet Sarah Taylor, a strong advocate of self-care, a plus-size model and fitness coach and founder of Fitness by Sarah. As a member of the plus-size community, Sarah understands the importance of putting yourself first and focusing on self-care.

Unfortunately, her journey to this realization was not an easy one.

“From a very young age, I hated my body. I was bullied heavily in school and it really attacked my sense of value, worth and beauty, even as a young child,”  stated Sarah.

When asked to explain her journey to self-love and how she learned to love her body, one fact was clear. It was not until Sarah, a soon to be a beauty queen, lost not weight but negativity, that she was truly free to be the best version of herself.

Losing Dead Weight

My approach to fitness does not start in the gym, it starts in the heart.

Sarah’s journey with both self-care and self-love began to blossom after a nine month separation from her ex-husband. The separation from his negativity allowed Sarah to see clearly her own beauty.

This new opportunity to work on her, the person deep down inside, is what changed her life.

Reading, praying, journaling and saying self-affirmations are some of the tasks Sarah committed to doing in order to focus on healing. She now realizes that she was building confidence that she had never had in the past.

The Journey to Helping Others

Healing and on a mission, Sarah decides to help other women learn to live their best lives by earning her certification as a personal trainer.

Sarah works hard to achieve one goal, more inclusion and representation within the plus-size community.

As a model, Sarah shows the world an image of a plus size women living unapologetically. As a fitness instructor and gym owner, Sarah uses her platform to teach fitness and self-love. At the end of the day, Sarah wants to build a community.

“My approach to fitness does not start in the gym, it starts in the heart,” said Sarah.

We Have Work To Do

“I feel like (as a community) we are making progress, but there really is so much more work to do.  We still have a long way to go.

We have started seeing bigger bodies in fashion and it’s slowly coming across to fitness but I don’t think we’ve even scratched the surface.

If 67% of the population is a size 14 up, we need to be seeing at least that amount of representation in our media and we aren’t.

We need to support those who are helping to make change and we need to support them hard,” Sarah stated.

Doing It For the Community

Using the dark elements of her past to fuel positivity for the future, Sarah intends to continue to push limits, break down barriers and build a safe space for women of all shapes and sizes. She uses Fitness by Sarah Taylor as her platform to give other women the tools they need to see the beauty within themselves.
